A year from India in Bolivia
Assumed the duty of the first Ambassador Resident of India in Bolivia on 19 March 2025 and presented my credentials on 26 May. This year, we have maintained a solid bilateral collaboration, high-level visits, signing of agreements, commercial activities and the establishment of links through cultural activities. The most important: we inaugurate a new Embassy in La Paz.
Bilateral relations: by carrying out high-level visits, highlighting the visit of Bolivian Chancellor Celinda Sosa to New Delhi on March 20, 2025; the participation of the Adjunto Secretary of India for South America in the Bicentenary of Bolivia last August; the presence of the Minister of State of External Affairs of India at the investiture ceremony of President Rodrigo Paz; and the recent participation of the Vice President of Bolivia and the Vice Minister of Science and Technology in the Conference of IA in New Delhi.
Agreements: During her visit to India, the Chancellor signed two agreements: Rapid Impact Projects with the Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanya Jaishankar and a Program of Cultural Interchange with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. In October 2025, the renewal of the Mine Cooperation Agreement was signed.
Celebration of the Bicentenary: A delegation led by the Secretary Adjunto visited Bolivia and met with the President Luis Arce, the Vice President David Choquehuanca and Bolivian ministers. The sitarist Pandit Debajit offered concerts in four departments.
Subnational relations: By November 2025, we establish links with the eight departments of Bolivia through high-level visits and meetings with governors, mayors, entrepreneurs, universities, media and cultural groups.
Assistance: India finances projects for four departments in the areas of water capture, agriculture, and infrastructure. India donated three million vaccines against measles and provided support during the forest fires last year.
Programs for the Development of Capacities: To finance new Bolivian professionals in the areas of solar energy, law, public policies, agriculture and banking.
Empresariado: A delegation of seven members participated in the Fexpocruz and celebrated a business meeting with the Chamber of Exportadores of Santa Cruz (Cadex).
They also organize business events with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in La Paz, and with the Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Services (ICAM) and the Federation of Private Business Entities (FEPC) of Cochabamba, as well as in other departments.
Education: It has promoted collaboration between universities. The University of Ahmedabad, state of Gujarat, is discussing student exchanges, among others, with the Universidad Tecnológica Private de Santa Cruz (Utepsa) and the Universidad Private Boliviana (UPB). La Universidad Loyola is launching a Diploma in Ayurveda and Homeopathy.
Cine and dance: They projected films from India in cinemas and universities in three departments, and co-organized dance events with Bolivian artists in seven departments.
Festivals: The Embassy celebrated Diwali, Navaratri and Holi, the most important and vibrant Hindu festivals of India, with a large participation in different cities.
Yoga: By organizing yoga events in three departments, with the participation of more than 2.000 people. The Embassy offers free classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the morning.
Gandhi: The autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi was translated into Spanish in collaboration with Utepsa. It is available free for download.
The Embassy and the House of India: The Embassy and the House of India were established in five months. Both were inaugurated by the Minister of State for External Affairs, India, on 7 November during his participation in the investiture of the new government.
Hindi Classes: They offer free Hindi classes for those interested.
Technology digital: La IndiaStack and other digital technological platforms offer Bolivia in friendly conditions.
Media symposium: It organizes media symposiums in three departments, interacting with the periodical community.
Reconocimientos: The Embassy had the privilege of being recognized by the alcalde of La Paz, the governor of Beni, the chambers of senators and deputies and the Brigade Parlamentaria of Cochabamba.
We hope to maintain an equally productive collaboration with Bolivia in the future.
